Interest Rate Cap
An Interest Rate Cap is a premium product which can be seen as insurance against high interest rates. The buyer pays a one-off initial premium in exchange for extra income during the life of the cap. The extra income is payable if and when the Benchmark Rate exceeds an agreed Cap Rate. The further the Benchmark Rate exceeds the Cap Rate, the greater the amount of income received under the cap.
